Thermotherapy is the therapeutic application of heat to the body used to treat various musculoskeletal injuries such as muscle strain and low back pain which are common in athletes. By increasing tissue temperature, thermotherapy brings various benefits including an increase in soft tissue extensibility. Longwave Diathermy can treat a larger area than Ultrasound and smaller areas than Shortwave. Longwave Diathermy is mostly used in physiotherapy for Tendinitis, Low back pain, Myalgia, Arthrosis, Bursitis, Ligament injuries, and Ankle distortion.
